The Strange Dinner is a prompt from the Subbody Butoh practice of Rhizome Lee. It entails preparing as you might for a dinner party, but with a twist. The dinner is non-conversational, and the social custom of sitting around a table is not obeyed. Participants bring offerings of food, objects, costumes, and rituals. The Strange Dinner is both celebratory and ceremonious, allowing for intention and improvisation.

Below is some footage from the preparations and opening moments of dinner, and some photos of the aftermath.

Strangely, no footage exists from most of the four-hour happening.
